If there were some way to rank every poker player on earth, it might be funny to see where people might come out. But, lacking this type of rating system, the individual can only surmise where individual players of skill might wind up on the chart of best players in the world. But it might be surprising to find out that no matter how skilled the player is, there is always an opportunity to lose money at the table. Hemorrhaging money is no fun, no matter what your skill level is. Even the best players can be wiped out and have difficulties coming back if they are not careful. But there are steps that can be taken to mitigate the chances of coming up against this blockade against the poker player’s ability to earn money by winning at the poker tables. By understanding the nature of the players at each table, the player can increase their chances of winning.
First and foremost, while it is good advice not to ever judge a book by its cover, poker players can sometimes size up their opponents simply by appearances. And while this is not a method to completely be relied upon, it can be a good start for the player who is trying to decide which table he has the best chances of winning and take advantage of it. Attempting to judge players by their appearance is difficult, but with some practice, the player can build up a good idea of what to look for. Obvious indications of amateur players include simple body language and blatant poor decision-making and wagering. Lining yourself up against these opponents is far more lucrative than playing against your equals or betters. This is the general concept of playing poker professionally, locating inferior players and fleecing them for all their worth. While this is a somewhat harsh concept, it is indeed the very essence of many professional poker players strategy.
If possible, delay playing in games and simply watch players and the available tables. Once you identify a few players that are obviously experienced players at the game of poker, join and play in games against them and attempt to win against their lesser abilities.
It is good advice to spend plenty of time utilizing this technique so that it is not necessary to win too much from any one player. In this way you will never get blacklisted from other players tables and be able to continue playing and winning small amounts from these lesser skilled players over time.
